Kirakudou is known for it's specialty "Chiyo-no-ume." First produced during the Edo Period (17th - late 19th century), the Japanese confection was given its name by Iiyama feudal lord Honda. Chiyo-no-ume is created with top quality ingredients, the red bean Turkish delight carefully crafted and wrapped in hand picked shiso leaves. The shop's famous confections, delicately scented with shiso, also make great souvenirs.
