Furusato Iiyama City History Museum showcases Iiyama City’s nature, history and culture. It displays over 400 items, including photographs of Iiyama City’s stunning nature, pottery and stone tools excavated from sites within the city, a diorama of Iiyama Castle town, and tools that people used in the past century. The museum also organizes various special exhibitions and hands-on workshops throughout the year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The museum displays about 100 pieces at a time, all hand crafted by the celebrated artist Mayumi Takahashi. Based on careful study of local people, Takahashi\u2019s dolls wear entirely human expressions, creating heartwarming scenes of the bonds between family and friends. In one corner, a special video offers a look into the craftsmanship behind these works of art. In addition, an attached cafe offers visitors a place to relax.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
