
The Narazawa Shrine Festival will take place on September 13 (Saturday) and September 14 (Sunday) in 2025.
In Iiyama City, autumn festivals are held in many villages throughout September. Through these celebrations, villagers pray for bountiful harvests and good health. They welcome deities to their communities and express gratitude through traditional dances and rituals.
The Narazawa Shrine Festival is one of the many autumn festivals in Iiyama, featuring a dramatic Tengu dance performed with large flaming torches. It is held in the Narazawa district, located 15 to 20 minutes away on foot from Iiyama Station.
The procession travels through the district featuring traditional dances, making their way the the destination, the Narazawa Shrine. In 2025, the festival is scheduled to begin at 6:00 p.m. on both days.
For details of the festival, please drop by at the Iiyama Tourist Information Center located on the first floor of Iiyama Station. The center is open from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
