The temple's two guardian statues were produced in the workshop of master sculptor Inaba Kisaku.The temple is also the burial ground of Kizaemon Noda, who was called from Osaka by Iiyama lord Matsudaira Tominokami Tadatomo to create irrigation systems for the area. These irrigation paths are still used today.In the temple garden, flowers bloom each season, and the on-site well never runs dry.Honkoji is the temple of Benzaiten, the god of wealth, music, and water, and one of Iiyama's Seven Deities of Good Fortune.
