In 1912, the Higashi honganji sermon houses located in Iiyama's Shiroyama Park were dismantled, with a consolidated group re-established as the main hall of today's Myoshoji Temple.In early summer, hydrangea blooms cover the temple path and six Boddhisattva statues. Stone markers on the path are engraved with grand prize-winning haiku, written by local residents.Myoshoji is the temple of Jurojin, the god of longevity, and one of Iiyama's Seven Deities of Good Fortune.
