A hands-on craft workshop, “Traditional Craft Techniques in Iiyama,” will be held where participants can experience traditional techniques used in Iiyama Buddhist altars.
Choose from three types of experiences—wood carving, metal engraving, or maki-e (lacquer decoration)—and enjoy creating your own unique piece while observing the skills of master craftspeople up close.

Wood Carving Experience
・Duration: Approx. 2 hours
・Fee: From ¥2,000
Try traditional wood-carving techniques used for Buddhist altar pillars and decorative woodwork. Participants will carve designs onto items such as small plates, trays, or chopstick rests.
Metal Engraving Experience
・Duration: Approx. 2.5 hours
・Fee: From ¥4,000
・Create a small dish by hammering patterns into a copper plate using traditional engraving techniques.
Maki-e (Lacquer Decoration) Experience
・Duration: Approx. 2 hours
・Fee: ¥5,000
・Experience maki-e, a traditional decorative technique using lacquer and gold powder.
