~ National Treasure Landscapes to Preserve for the Future: Kosuge District ~Support the Community by Purchasing Limited Edition Towels

Updated :2025.11.10.

The mountain hamlet of Kosuge is located in the mountains of Iiyama City.
In 2015, “Kosuge Village and Kosuge Mountain Cultural Landscape” was designated as an Important Cultural Landscape of Japan.

Kosuge is a special place where the beliefs of Shugendo still remain, and where traditions, everyday life, and a thousand years of history continue to be passed down. Local customs and seasonal events are still carefully preserved throughout the year.

However, the community today faces significant challenges such as population aging and the increasing number of vacant houses, making it difficult to maintain traditions and preserve the landscape.

To support this precious cultural landscape, the Iiyama Station Tourist Information Center has produced and begun selling original towels featuring Kosuge designs.
Approximately 20% of the sales from each item will be donated to support local festival operations and landscape conservation activities.

A memorable souvenir — and a warm gesture of support to the community.
